SLEEP APNEA

T R E A T M E N T

If you suffer from sleep apnea, you may not be getting adequate rest at night, leaving you feeling extra tired and unfocused throughout the next day. It is a potentially serious sleep disorder that causes interrupted breathing during sleep. People experiencing sleep apnea repeatedly stop breathing while they sleep.

The most common type of sleep apnea is obstructive sleep apnea and occurs when the soft tissue in the back of the throat relaxes during sleep. The airway then becomes blocked and this causes loud snoring. If left untreated, sleep apnea prevents you from getting a restful night’s sleep. Some symptoms of sleep apnea include:

Loud, chronic snoring

Choking, snorting or gasping during sleep

Long (10 seconds or more) pauses in breathing

Excessive daytime sleepiness

Dry mouth and headaches in the morning

Memory problems

HOW WE CAN

H E L P

At Beach Dental Center, we offer a custom-fitted appliance that can treat your sleep apnea. The oral appliance is worn during the night and opens the bite gently moving the lower jaw forward. The new position of the mouth allows the airway to remain open, improving breathing and the quality of sleep. At Beach Dental, we know good quality sleep is important for your overall health!
